The revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo starring Tony winner Laurence Fishburne, and Golden Globe winners Sam Rockwell and Darren Criss, closes July 10. The show opened April 14 at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre, following previews which began March 22.
Directed by Neil Pepe, the limited engagement, starring Fishburne as Donny, Rockwell as Teach, and Criss as Bobby, will have played 101 performances and 27 previews.
The play follows three small-time hustlers in search of the American Dream. Mamet's play first premiered on Broadway in 1977, receiving two Tony Award nominations. The show has gone on to be revived off-Broadway in 1981 and 2000, and on Broadway in 1983 and 2008.
This current production received four nominations for 2022 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play, Best Direction of a Play, Best Scenic Design of a Play, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play, the latter for Rockwell.
Led by director Neil Pepe, the creative team comprises set design by Scott Pask, costume design by Dede Ayite, and lighting design by Tyler Micoleau.
