Off-Broadway News 59E59's VOLT Festival Closes with Final Performance of The Lucky Star June 12

The play is the last to finish in the Off-Broadway theatre's festival presentation of three plays by Karen Hartman.

Off-Broadway's 59E59 finishes presenting its Inaugural VOLT Festival with the final performance of Karen Hartman's The Lucky Star June 12. The festival presents three New York City-premiering plays by a single playwright, and featured Hartman's New Golden Age and Goldie, Max & Milk as part of this year's line-up.

The Lucky Star, which began previews April 26 and officially opened May 5, tells the true-story drama of a family torn starring Skye Alyssa Friedman, Danny Gavigan, Nina Hellman, Eva Kaminsky, Alexa Shae Niziak, Mike Shapiro, Alexandra Silber, Steven Skybell, Sky Smith, and Dale Soules. Eliza Foss, Rachel Alana Handler, and Noah Zachary serve as understudies. 

A Directors Company's production, the play is an adaptation by Hartman of Richard Hollander's book Every Day Lasts a Year: A Jewish Family's Correspondence from Poland

Director Noah Himmelstein leads a creative team that includes Daniel Ettinger for scenic design, David Burdick for costume design, Cory Pattak for lighting design, Elisheba Ittoop for sound design, and Caite Hevner for projection design. Douglas Denoff serves as producer. Casting for all shows is by Stephanie Klapper Casting.
