Off-Broadway's Hold On to Me, Darling revival has recouped its initial investment, producers revealed December 11. Led by film star Adam Driver, the revival is one of several productions that have become financial darlings even in a precarious Off-Broadway landscape, thanks to a starry cast and accompanying unusually high (for Off-Broadway) ticket prices.
Directed by Neil Pepe, the revival opened October 16 after beginning previews September 24, and has so far been completely sold out at every performance.
Driver stars as country music icon Strings McCrane, who abandons the limelight to return to his small Tennessee hometown after the death of his mother. The cast also includes Heather Burns as Nancy, Adelaide Clemens as Essie, Keith Nobbs as Jimmy, CJ Wilson as Duke, and Frank Wood as Mitch. Understudies Mark Jacoby, Haskell King, and Jamie Ann Romero round out the company. Casting is by Telsey Casting.
The creative team includes scenic designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Suttirat Larlarb, lighting designer Tyler Micoleau, and sound designer David Van Tiegham. Wagner Johnson Productions is general managing.
