The 75th Annual Tony Awards—broadcast June 12 on CBS and on demand on Paramount+, making this year's ceremony the first in Tony history available live nationwide—were seen by 3.86 million viewers, according to Variety.
The two-part, four-hour Tony ceremony, celebrating the 2021-2022 Broadway season, kicked off at 7 PM with The Tony Awards: Act One, hosted by Emmy winners Darren Criss and Julianne Hough on Paramount+. The 75th Annual Tony Awards—hosted by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose—followed at 8 PM ET on CBS.
By comparison, the 74th Annual Tony ceremony—broadcast September 26, 2021, also on CBS after a Paramount + event—was seen by only 2.77 million viewers with a 0.4 rating among adults in the 18-49 demographic. The pre-pandemic 73rd Annual Tony Awards telecast in 2019 drew 5.5 million viewers with a 0.8 rating.
