Washington, D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre Company will livestream Thornton Wilder: It’s Time, a new documentary about playwright and author Thornton Wilder, May 18 at 7:30 PM ET. The new short will make its premiere during the theatre company's Shakespeare Hour Live!
As part of the event, Wilder's nephew Tappan Wilder and Wilder Director of Programs Rosey Strub will take part in a Q&A with the documentary's creator Jim Knable. Simon Godwin, Shakespeare Theatre Company's artistic director, and Dr. Drew Lichtenberg, the company's Resident Dramaturg, will moderate the discussion.
Wilder won three Pulitzer Prizes, and remains the only writer to win a Pulitzer in both fiction and drama. In honor of the 125th anniversary of Wilder's birth, Shakespeare Theatre Company is producing a revival of Our Town, one of Wilder's most famous plays. Performances will run in Washington, D. C. May 12–June 11 at Sidney Harman Hall.
A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Entertainment Community Fund's Women's Health Initiative, founded by the late Phyllis Newman.
Named for one of the greatest dance icons in American theatre history, the Chita Rivera Awards honor dancers and choreographers throughout the theatre industry.
The film purports to examine the Chicago Outfit’s alleged involvement in the JFK assassination, drawing directly from firsthand accounts and insights from the family of crime boss Sam Giancana.
