Wicked fans have had quite the holiday haul. In addition to the announcement that the first half of the two-part film adaptation of the international hit musical will be available on video on demand beginning December 31, information on deleted and extended scenes has been released, with one of the extended scenes available to view now.

The available scene, which extends the hijinks as Glinda teaches Elphaba how to toss her hair in an alluring way, can be seen above thanks to NBC's Today.

The extended and deleted scenes available with the digital release will include the following:

• Pfannee & ShenShen Meet Glinda – Reunited at Shiz University, Glinda, Pfannee, and ShenShen recall their past by performing a twirling routine together
• Shiz Gazette introduces Fiyero – Excitement spreads across Shiz as word gets out that Prince Fiyero is on his way.
• Extended Elphaba and Fiyero in the Forest
• Elphaba’s promise – Elphaba makes a pledge to Glinda that they both hope will strengthen their friendship.
• Train Platform Farewell – Glinda, Madame Morrible, and Governor Thropp gather to send Elphaba off to Emerald City.
• Boq and Elphaba Talk – Elphaba challenges Boq to face the truth about his feelings for Nessa Rose, but she has difficulty doing the same when it comes to Fiyero.
• Extended Train Ride to Emerald City
• Extended Emerald City Adventures
• Extended Palace Monkeys Chase
• And the Toss-Toss scene above.

The motion picture, which arrived in cinemas November 22, will be available for rent or purchase via Fandango at Home, Apple TV, Prime Video, YouTube, Verizon, Spectrum, and more. According to Amazon, a physical release on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray is set for June 30, 2025.

The film will continue to light up movie theatres around the world as well; to date, the movie musical has brought in over $580 million worldwide. On December 20, Universal released a sing-along version of the film adaptation's hit soundtrack, featuring the full backing tracks from the film, including "Defying Gravity," "Dancing Through Life," "Popular," and more. The sing-along soundtrack is now available on all streaming platforms.

Featuring songs by Stephen Schwartz, a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, and designs by Tony winner Paul Tazewell, the Wicked films star Cynthia Erivo and Grammy winner Ariana Grande as, respectively, Elphaba and Glinda. The second half of the two-part adaptation will arrive November 21, 2025.

The cast also features West End Company Olivier winner and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, SpongeBob SquarePants star Ethan Slater as Boq, Emmy winner Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond, 2023 Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, and newcomer Marissa Bode as Nessarose.

Stage and screen star Keala Settle, SNL's Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Aaron Teoh, and Colin Michael Carmichael also play roles new to the musical's screen version, with Settle as Miss Coddle, Carmichael as Professor Nikidik, and Yang, James, and Teoh as Shiz students Pfannee, ShenShen, and Avaric, respectively.

Wicked, injecting a new backstory onto the classic tale The Wizard of Oz, debuted on Broadway in 2003 and continues to be an audience favorite at the Gershwin Theatre. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, the musical features music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Holzman. The original cast included Tony winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. The musical is now the fourth longest-running production in Broadway history.

The show won 2004 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (Menzel), Best Costume Design (Susan Hilferty), and Best Scenic Design (Eugene Lee).
