November is officially here, and the kickoff of the winter holiday season is growing near. Though the cold is starting to set in, we would like to send our warmest wishes to all the Scorpio and Sagittarius stars of Broadway whose birthdays fall throughout the month of November. Below, see what they're currently working on, and check out the Playbill Vault for other theatre notables with November birthdays.
The night of November 1 belongs to Beth Leavel (Lempicka, The Prom), soon-to-be-seen in the West End transfer of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends, and potential maestro Anthony Ramos (Hamilton).
We could never be "Ruined" by gifted playwright Lynn Nottage (Intimate Apparel, Ruined) or Broadway's brilliant bass Philip Boykin (Hadestown), who share a November 2 birthday.
Howard McGillin (Parade, Gigi, Kiss of the Spider Woman) won't be doing his birthday celebrating alone! On November 5, he celebrates alongside Andrea McArdle (State Fair, Beauty and the Beast) and Keala Settle (Waitress and the current Fly More Than You Fall in the U.K.).
"It Takes Two" Broadway birthdays to make November 6 a special day: Patina Miller (Into the Woods, Pippin) and Michael Cerveris (Tammy Faye).
We'll be "Doing the Latest Rag" for Chuck Cooper (Encores! Titanic, Trouble in Mind, Choir Boy, Prince of Broadway) on November 8 as he celebrates his birthday.
Tony-winning composers Jeanine Tesori (Kimberly Akimbo, Fun Home) and Tim Rice (Evita, Aladdin) will "Make a Wish" and blow out their birthday candles on November 10.
We hope Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard) has a bloody good November 12 birthday.
We've got Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act, Xanadu), soon-to-be-seen at Madison Square Garden, and Jaquel Spivey (A Strange Loop) to celebrate November 13.
November 16 is a momentous occasion to celebrate good Company, when we'll drink to the "Side by Side by Side" birthdays of Broadway veteran Donna McKechnie (Company and, currently, Wicked) and revered playwright Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive, Mother Play). Also born on this day is performer Jelani Remy (Back to the Future, The Lion King), who takes another trip around the sun in their "Circle of Life."
We want Danny DeVito (I Need That, The Price), Kyle Dean Massey (Company, The Boys in the Band), and Rick Elice (Smash, Water for Elephants) to have great birthdays on November 17. We need that.
We'll be ringing "The Bells of St. Sebastian" on November 18 for Steven Pasquale (American Son, Junk), and Daphne Rubin-Vega (A Streetcar Named Desire, Les Misérables).
Let's "Build a Snowman" in honor of Allison Janney (Six Degrees of Separation, 9 to 5), Rob Ashford (the upcoming Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil), and Adam Driver (Off-Broadway's Hold On to Me Darling) this November 19.
On November 20, we raise a glass to theatre's favorite "old sport"—the incomparable Jeremy Jordan (The Great Gatsby).
Moisés Kaufman (Paradise Square, Torch Song) is "Someone to Love" on his November 21 birthday.
On November 22, life is beautiful for Richard Kind (soon-to-be-seen in All In: Comedy About Love) and current Cabaret Sally Bowles, Auli'i Cravalho.
Celebrating on November 24 is Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Skeleton Crew), who is a true gem (of the ocean).
Let's hope there are no disasters on November 25 as Kevin Chamberlin (Disaster!, The Addams Family) celebrates his birthday.
Hear ye, hear ye! November 26 shall henceforth be known as a day when we must "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," because it is the day performer Christopher Fitzgerald (Spamalot, Waitress) was born!
If Beale Street Could Talk, I am sure it would wish actor, writer, director and producer Colman Domingo (Fat Ham, Passing Strange) and S. Epatha Merkerson (Come Back, Little Sheba, The Piano Lesson) a happy birthday on November 28.
"Get Ready" to sing "Happy Birthday" to Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie and Clyde), Jackie Hoffman (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and Nik Walker (Spamalot, Ain't Too Proud) on November 29.
"Everybody Loves" Broadway legend Mandy Patinkin (Sunday in the Park with George, Evita), acclaimed writer David Lindsay-Abaire (Kimberly Akimbo), and performer Charlie Stemp (Hello, Dolly!) who all share a birthday on November 30. It is a show-stopping finale to a month of celebration.
