Performances begin October 13 for 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of Ragtime. Stephen Flaherty, Lynn Ahrens, and Terrence McNally’s Tony-winning musical is directed by Peter Rothstein, who returns to the Seattle theatre after staging Guys and Dolls and Oklahoma!
Ragtime is scheduled to play through November 5 with choreography by Kelli Foster Warder.
The principal cast is made up of Kendra Kassebaum (Come From Away) as Mother, Joshua Carter (Little Shop of Horrors and Spamalot at 5th Ave) as Tateh, Douglas Lyons (The Book of Mormon) as Coalhouse Walker Jr., Danyel Fulton (Jasper in Deadland) as Sarah, Matthew Kacergis (The Little Mermaid, Billy Elliott) as Younger Brother, and Louis Hobson (A Room with a View) as Father.
Based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow, Ragtime weaves the stories of a reunited African-American family, a father and daughter emigrating from Latvia, and a wealthy suburban WASP family in turn-of-the-century America.
The Seattle revival is produced in association with Asolo Repertory Theatre and will officially open October 20.
Completing the cast are Asa Adams, Andi Alhadeff, Eric Ankrim, Lauren Du Pree, Emily Hamilton, Hugh Hastings, Coleman Hunter, Apollo Jones, Richard Peacock, Tatum Poirrier, Marrsean Sonko, Billie Wildrick, and Ty Willis.
