Scarlett Strallen (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Tabitha Lawing (Days of Wine and Roses) have joined the lineup of artists performing in Classic Stage Company (CSC)'s benefit concert Classics Up Close: Leonard Bernstein.
Held June 9 at the Off-Broadway company's Lynn F. Angelson Theater, the evening will feature songs from On the Town, West Side Story, Wonderful Town, and Candide.
They join the previously reported Kate Baldwin, Nikki Renée Daniels, Santino Fontana, and Alysha Umphress.
Cara Akselrad is directing. CSC has also announced that Seth Rudetsky will serve as musical director, and Bernstein's daughter, Jamie Bernstein, will be on hand for the event.
“Musical theatre is a classic American genre, and at CSC we love exploring the great composers and lyricists whose work has come to comprise the canon of great musicals,” CSC Producing Artistic Director Jill Rafson said in an earlier statement. “Leonard Bernstein contributed so much to the arts, and we’re excited to put the focus specifically on his creations for Broadway musicals. Getting to hear his gorgeous music as sung by these stunning performers in our intimate space is sure to be an extraordinary experience.”
