The story of one Chinese family immigrating to the United States in the 19th century makes its world premiere Off-Broadway.

Critics are weighing in on the world premiere production of Lloyd Suh's The Far Country at Off-Broadway's Linda Gross Theater. Presented by Atlantic Theater Company, the play began previews November 17, and opened December 5 for a runt through January 1, 2023.

Set in the wake of the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, The Far Country follows one family's journey from rural Taishan to California at a time when Chinese laborers have been banned from immigrating to the United States for 10 years.
