The Broadway bow of Olivier-winning Prima Facie opens April 23 in the John Golden Theatre. Transferring from the West End with its star Emmy winner Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), who won an Olivier for her performance, the play digs into the legal system and how it fails to serve justice. Previews for the Suzie Miller play began April 11 for an engagement through June 18.

For her Broadway debut, Comer reprises the role of Tessa, a British defense lawyer from a working-class background who has worked hard to become a rising star in the legal field. Often assigned to defend men accused of sexual assault, she dedicates her career to a system she believes in. But her whole world is thrown into question after she ends up in the witness stand. Dani Arlington continues to serve as understudy.

Martin (The Jungle) directs the production which features an original score by Rebecca Lucy Taylor (aka Self Esteem), two-time Tony nominee scenic and costume design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Drama Desk nominee Natasha Chivers, sound design by Drama Desk winners Ben and Max Ringham, and video by William Williams for Treatment Studio. The Broadway run will be general managed by 101 Productions Ltd.

The awards followed Comer's win of the Evening Standard Award for Best Actress, the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Performer in a Play, the West End Debut Award from The Stage, and the BroadwayWorld UK/West End Award for Best Newcomer. The WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play was awarded to Miller and Martin won a BroadwayWorld UK/West End Award for Best Direction of a New Production of a Play.

It is also launching the Prima Facie Pro Bono Project, offering low-priced ticket lottery and rush tickets at every performance, while also providing free ticket access to specific partner and community organizations.

The show does include a trigger warning for including sensitive subject matters with references to sex, violence, and sexual assault.
