The comedic feminist thriller follows four girls, who are on a mission trip to Bangkok as part of a Korean Christian girls' youth group, as they deal with discovering a hidden camera in their hotel bathroom placed there by their pastor. As the four process and respond to the invasion in their own ways against the backdrop of the sex tourism of Bangkok, their shared rage and disillusionment lead them to take action against the always-present male gaze.

The production features direction by Maggie Burrows, as well as original music and sound design by Jonathan Snipes. The creative team also includes scenic designer Se Oh, costume designer Denitsa Bliznakova, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, fight director Thomas Isao Morinaka, intimacy director Mia Schachter, production stage manager Elizabeth A. Brohm, and casting director Phyllis Schuringa.

Man of God, which made its world premiere in 2019 at Los Angeles' David Henry Hwang Theatre at the Union Center of the Arts, was originally scheduled as part of the Geffen's 2019-2020 season. It was cancelled just before opening in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
