London's Heathers The Musical will host a special sing-along performance January 18, 2023, with audience members encouraged to come in their best '80s Heathers outfits. The news comes as The Other Palace extends the production through February 19.
The production will also give two relaxed performances, set for October 9, 2022, and February 5, 2023.
The London theatre is also extending its world premiere of Elliot Clay's new pop song cycle Millennials, which opened at the venue July 8. The production will now continue through September 4, with new casting to be announced. Premiering at MTFestUK, Millennials centers on the frustrations of young people in the modern world. Clay's theatre credits include writing and starring in his debut musical The State of Things, and performing in productions of Million Dollar Quartet, Peter Pan, Oliver!, and The Wizard of Oz.
With a book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, Heathers the Musical is based on the cult film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The musical is directed by Andy Fickman with choreography by Gary Lloyd, designs by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Dan Samson, and musical direction by Phil Cornwell. The production was a record-breaker at The Other Palace in 2018 before transferring to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a limited season later that year. Last year, the production returned to the Haymarket in parallel with a U.K. tour before returning to its original home at The Other Palace. The production temporarily closed in May so that it could be filmed live on stage. Release plans for that film have not yet been announced.
Millennials features direction by Hannah Benson, orchestrations by Auburn Jam, choreography by Tinovimbanashe Sibanda, lighting design from Andrew Exeter, arrangements and music supervision by Joe Davison and Nikki Davison, and music and sound production by Auburn Jam Music.
