The con is on.
A concert version of the 2005 Broadway musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels plays two performances at the London Palladium November 24.
Marking 20 years since the musical premiered at San Diego's Old Globe, the concerts feature Ramin Karimloo (Les Misérables, City Center Encores! Titanic) as the scrappy underdog Freddy Benson and Hadley Fraser (The Pirate Queen, Les Misérables) as the smooth Laurence Jamieson, who go head-to-head to woo an heiress out of $50,000.
Directed by Rupert Hands, the cast also includes Carly Mercedes Dyer as Christine Colgate, Janie Dee as Muriel Eubanks, Cameron Blakely as Inspector Andre, and Alex Young as Jolene Oaks.
The concerts, featuring a live orchestra and the
Mountainview Choir, are produced by Lambert Jackson and Positive Sum.
Based on the 1988 movie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
features a score by David Yazbek and a
book by Jeffrey Lane. The 2005 Broadway premiere, co-starring John
Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz, was nominated for 11 Tony Awards with Butz
winning the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical.
