Heidi Schreck and the original Broadway cast of What the Constitution Means to Me will reunite for a reading of Schreck's Tony Award–nominated and Pulitzer Prize finalist play June 9 at 8 PM. Organized to benefit the National Network of Abortion Funds, the reading will be held at Great Hall at Cooper Union in NYC.
Oliver Butler will direct the cast, comprising Schreck, Mike Iveson, Rosdely Ciprian, and Thursday Williams. Schreck’s play, which imagines how the Constitution will shape America's next generation, follows Schreck's teenage self as it explores the relationship between four generations of women affected by one of America's foundational documents.
The reading's beneficiary, the National Network of Abortion Funds, helps remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access.
The play opened Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in 2018, and subsequently transferred to Broadway in 2019. Since its Broadway run, What the Constitution Means to Me has gone on a national tour and a streaming version of Schreck's Broadway performance released on Amazon Prime. It was commissioned by True Love Productions.

The Alicia Keys musical made its world premiere at the Off-Broadway company and is due to begin performances at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway March 28.
The gala will feature performances from Birch and Cariou's extensive theatrical careers, including Grease, They’re Playing Our Song, and A Little Night Music.
