Julia May Jonas' Your Own PersonalExegesis has shared a look inside its opening night with photos and video. The world premiere opened at Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3's Claire Tow Theater December 5 for a limited engagement through December 31.
Hannah Cabell, Cole Doman, Annie Fang, Savidu Geevaratne, and Mia Pak star in the memory play, which centers on a youth pastor and a group of teens in a liberal parish. The coming-of-age tale explores themes of eroticism and religious ecstasy under the direction of Annie Tippe (Octet).
The creative team includes set designer Brett J. Banakis, costume designer Wendy Yang, lighting designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound designer by Stowe Nelson. Original music is by Brian Cavanagh-Strong. Karen Evanouskas serves as stage manager.
Jonas' theatre work has been presented and developed with The Bushwick Starr, New Georges, Ars Nova, Target Margin, and others. Her debut novel, Vladimir, was published in February 2022 and has appeared on several "best of" lists.
