Casting is set for the world premiere of David Harms' Powerhouse: A Woman Shall Rise, which will begin previews at Off-Broadway's A.R.T./New York Theatres' Gural Theatre October 6. Manhattan Repertory Theatre presents the production, set to officially open October 8 for a limited run through October 30.
Laura Shoop (Flying Over Sunset) will star as Regan Van Riper, joined by Dominck LaRuffa Jr. (Bull) as Guy, Jennifer Pierro (The Eyes of Love) as Meena Cizinski, Tony-winning producer Jana Robbins (Company, Gypsy) as Janet Shaney, and Jeorge Bennett Watson (…what the end will be) as Norris Peebles. Standbys are Maya Days, Nick Jordan, Madeline Grey Defreece, Kate Levy, and Marc Webster.
Set in a big-name law firm, Powerhouse follows a lawyer in her 40s as she faces the company pushing her out following an inappropriate relationship with a younger associate.
Ken Wolf will direct the production, leading a creative team comprised of scenic designer Jack C. Golden, costume designer Sabrinna Fabi (Cymbeline), lighting designer Yang Yu (Revolution), and composer, sound designer, and graphic designer Katherine Cartusciello (Then She Ran).
Kyra Bowie serves as production stage manager and Mary Garrigan as the assistant stage manager. Props master is Siarra Donna, costume supervisor is Alex Wolf, COVID safety manager is Jackson Cline, and intimacy director is Jamie Monohan.
