Disney's immersive virtual reality experiences of Broadway performances end September 11 at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The fan event began on September 9.
Using virtual reality headsets, attendees go inside “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin, “Let It Go” from Frozen, and “Circle of Life” in The Lion King.
The Lion King opened on Broadway in 1997 under the direction of Julie Taymor, who won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical and becoming the first woman in Broadway history to win the category. The musical received six Tony Awards in total and continues to play at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre. Aladdin, which opened in 2014, continues to play at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Completing its run in 2020, Frozen played 825 performances at the St. James Theatre and is currently touring the U.S. and playing London’s West End.
The D23 Expo brings together Disney fans for a three-day event with presentations, experiences, concerts, sneak peeks, and more.
