Lincoln Center's Off-Broadway production of Epiphany, by Brian Watkins, opens at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater June 23 after beginning performances May 26. The production is set to run through July 24. Watch a montage of highlights from the production above.
Directed by Tyne Rafaeli, the cast includes Francois Battiste (A Christmas Carol, One Night in Miami) as Charlie, Marylouise Burke (Is He Dead?, John) as Morkan, Heather Burns (The Kid Stays in the Picture) as Kelly, Jonathan Hadary (Golden Boy, Spamalot) as Ames, Omar Metwally (Munich, Rendition) as Sam, Colby Minifie (The Pillowman, Long Day's Journey Into Night) as Loren, David Ryan Smith (One Man Two Guvnors) as Taylor, C.J. Wilson (Henry IV, All-American) as Freddy, and Carmen Zilles (Fefu and Her Friends) as Aran. Rounding out the company as understudies are Glenna Brucken, Julie Boyd, Luis Moreno, Daniel Morgan Shelley, Dale Place, and Raquel Chavez.
The new play follows a group of old friends gathering to resuscitate a forgotten tradition only to find themselves craving answers when the guest of honor is unusually late. The work premiered at Ireland's Druid Theatre in 2019.
Joining Rafaeli on the creative team are scenic designer John Lee Beatty, 2022 Tony-winning costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, and composer and sound designer Daniel Kluger. Roxana Khan is stage manager, and the production has been cast by Daniel Swee.
Up next in LCT's Claire Tow Theatre is Aya Ogawa's The Nosebleed, an autobiographical play exploring Ogawa's fractured relationship with their late and enigmatic father through a series of vignettes. The work begins performances July 16 with opening night set for August 1.
