Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre has announced that Christopher Moses and Tinashe Kajese-Bolden have been appointed as the regional theatre's new artistic directors. The decision comes after the pair have collectively served as interim artistic directors after Susan V. Booth left in October 2022.

Kajese-Bolden has performed and directed at the Alliance for decades, and previously served for four years as the BOLD associate artistic director. Moses has had a 20-year long career with the Alliance, most recently as the Dan Reardon director of education and associate artistic director.

The decision to appoint both Moses and Kajese-Bolden marks the first time two artistic directors have been appointed in Alliance Theatre's history. The decision was made with the belief that it "will support the theatre’s expected growth over the next five years, and will strengthen its role as a cultivator of new works for all audiences and a leader in arts education," according to press notes.

The pair have been charged with looking into models of growth, sustainability, and excellence; expanding youth and educational programming; fostering local talents; and developing new and impactful works.

Kajese-Bolden has already been announced as co-director of The Preacher's Wife, a new musical from Tituss Burgess and Azie Dungey which will make its world premiere at the theatre next year. Serving as her co-director will be Tony winner Michael Arden. Find out more about Alliance's 2023-24 season here.
