Alves will hit Birdland July 20 at 7 PM for an evening of "personal, raw and melodic" songs. He will be joined by Robyn Hurder (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Grease, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chicago) and Rebecca Riker (An American In Paris, Addams Family, Rock of Ages, A Chorus Line).
Click here for more information on the concert, and catch him nightly at the Lyric Theatre, where he dances the night away in On the Town.

George Michael – "Faith." I feel closer to God step-touching to this gem every single time it plays.
Olivia Newton-John – "Physical." Has a good message.
Michael Jackson – "Billie Jean." There's no way I can get around not flick-whipping my leg Michael-style to this song. The move is a great hip stretch and also makes you feel cool.
Justin Timberlake – "SexyBack." This beat and lyrics will make any average Joe feel like it was written for and by him.
Enya – "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)." Jumps, kicks, turns across the floor… Dancers, you know what I'm talking about. Do it!
Vanilla Ice – "Ice Ice Baby." It is "rap," but you can really just pick your style and dance to it. "Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know!"
Barry White – "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe." Oohhh. Grab a partner to fully appreciate this one. Dip, lift, step-ball-change. All are welcome.
Los del Rio – "Macarena." Because you can freestyle the verses, then join in on the pre-choreographed chorus. Six simple moves followed by three pelvic circles… Heaven.
Sinead O'Connor – "Nothing Compares 2 You." I dare you to dance like no one is watching to this tune. Lyrical angst, in your bedroom, dance studio or at a wedding. Doesn't matter, they are all appropriate. #Cathartic
Rick Astley – "Never Gonna Give You Up." A little eye contact, a little step-touch. That's all you need.
