Your eyes are not deceiving you: Playbill is writing about the Super Bowl. But fret not—it's because this year's game featured a performance from Broadway Dreamgirls star Sheryl Lee Ralph!

Ralph, who earned a Tony nomination creating the role of Deena Jones in the 1981 musical, has mostly shifted her career into TV and film since Dreamgirls, save a performance in the original company of Thoroughly Modern Millie and a stint as Madame Morrible in Wicked. Now an Emmy winner for her work as matriarch educator Barbara Howard on Abbott Elementary, Ralph reminded the world of her incomparable vocal talents with a pre-game performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Watch here.

Along with Abbott Elementary, Ralph's screen credits include Oliver & CompanySister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and Moesha. She also recently made her debut as a Broadway producer with 2021's Thoughts of a Colored Man.
