The Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Board of Directors announced February 15 a national search to select a permanent artistic director. The official launch of the search comes nearly one year after Sheldon Epps joined the TUTS family as artistic advisor; Epps will depart the Texas company to make way for a more permanent artistic director.
Under Epps’ guidance, the 2016-17 season at TUTS included productions of In The Heights, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Into the Woods.
“I am so very proud of the work that we have done together and all that we have accomplished in a very short amount of time that has led to a remarkable season at TUTS,” said Epps in a statement. “I am happy to continue with TUTS in my current capacity at least until that anniversary date, and have been pleased to supervise the planning for the upcoming season.”
The not-for-profit theatre looks toward its 50th anniversary—the theatre was founded in 1968—and welcomes a new executive director, Hillary Hart.
AlbertHall&Associates, the full-service consulting and executive recruiting firm specializing in the non-profit arts sector, will conduct the search for artistic director. The firm handled the search for Hart.
