Inspired by the true story of the first Chinese woman to step foot in America, The Chinese Lady follows 16-year-old Afong Moy, who sailed into New York Harbor in 1834 and was immediately put on display for a paying public. Moy then traveled through America as a living exhibit for decades, delivering a unique portrait and perspective on an adolescent nation.

The creative team features scenic designer Junghyun Georgia Lee, costume designer Linda Cho, lighting designers Jiyoun Chang and Elizabeth Mak, sound designer Fabian Obispo, and projection designer Shawn Duan. Maggie Manzano and Brody Thrash serve as production stage manager and stage manager, respectively. Obispo also wrote original music for the production.
