Following a three-week run at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Christine Mary Dunford’s adaptation of Lisa Genova’s best-selling novel Still Alice will head on a tour of the U.K. beginning this fall. Sharon Small (BBC's The Inspector Linley Mysteries) will reprise her starring role as Alice, a renowned linguistics professor battling with early-onset dementia.

Helmed by Tony-nominated Broadway and West End director David Grindley (Journey's End, Pygmalion), the tour will open at the Sheffield Lyceum September 12. Other stops include Richmond Theatre, King’s Theatre Edinburgh, Norwich Theatre Royal, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, and Festival Theatre, Malvern.

Additional venues and casting will be announced at a later date.

Through the story of Alice Howland, Still Alice examines the effects of early-onset dementia on identity, family, and relationships. Genova’s novel was adapted into an earlier film starring Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, and Kristen Stewart.

Small's other stage credits include Simon Stephens’ The Threepenny Opera at the National Theatre, Luna Gale (Hampstead Theatre), Carmen Disruption (Almeida Theatre), The Arden of Faversham (RSC), and When Harry Met Sally (Theatre Royal Haymarket).

Still Alice will have set and costume design by Jonathan Fensom, lighting design by Jason Taylor, sound design by Gregory Clarke, and is produced by Michael Park.
