The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival has announced casting for their 2024 repertory season, which kicks off in June. The season consists of three adaptations of classic works, including two world premieres, and their annual educational tour. Casting is by Calleri Jensen Davis.
The mainstage stason will begin with the world premiere of Luis Quintero's Medea: Re-Versed, adapted from Euripides' Medea, co-conceived and directed by Nathan Winkelstein, and presented in a co-production with Red Bull Theater and Bedlam. Performances will begin June 11, with opening night set for June 21, for a run through September 2. The production will then transfer to Manhattan's Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, where it will run September 12-October 15.
The cast will include Melissa Mahoney, Mark Martin, Jacob Ming-Trent, Luis Quintero, Stephen Michael Spencer, and Sarin Monae West, with additional casting to be announced.
Medea: Re-Versed will feature costume design by Nicole Wee, lighting design by Carolina Ortiz Herrera, sound design by Matt Otto, and properties by Buffy Cardoza. Mark Martin serves as music director, Alithea Phillips is the voice and dialect coach, and Janelle Caso is the stage manager.

The world premiere of Heidi Armbruster's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, adapted from Agatha Christie's novel of the same name and directed by Ryan Quinn, begins performances June 13. Opening night is set for June 26, for a run through September 1.
The cast will include Melissa Mahoney, Sean McNall, Travis Raeburn, Kurt Rhoads, Malika Samuel, and Nance Williamson, with additional casting to be announced.
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd will feature costume design by Charlotte Palmer-Lane, lighting design by Lucrecia Briceño, sound design and compositions by Matt Otto, and properties by Buffy Cardoza. Susannah Millonzi serves as movement director, Alithea Phillips is the voice and dialect coach, and Daniel Vaughn is the stage manager.
Finally, the company will present Whitney White's By the Queen, adapted from William Shakespeare's Henry VI and Richard III and directed by Shana Cooper. Performances begin June 15, with opening night set for June 29. Performances will continue through August 31.

By The Queen will feature costume design by An-lin Dauber, lighting design by Carolina Ortiz Herrera, sound design and composition by Lee Kinney, and properties by Buffy Cardoza. Tiffany Rachelle Stewart serves as movement director, Alithea Phillips is the voice and dialect coach, and Janelle Caso is the stage manager.
HVSF will also produce Much Ado About Nothing as its annual educational tour production. The Shakespeare play, directed by Kholoud Sawaf, will be available to regional middle and high schools March 20 through April 28, 2024.
The 2024 season is HVSF's third on the grounds of its new home in Garrison, New York, where a permanent open-air theatre venue is under construction and set to open in 2026. In the meantime, HVSF will utilize its pre-existing seasonal theatre tent.
Tickets are available here beginning March 1 for members, and March 12 for the general public.
