Casting is now complete for the upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of Murder on the Orient Express. Directed by Lucy Bailey, Ken Ludwig’s adaptation of the Christie classic will launch its tour September 6–14 at the Lowry in Salford with a final stop April 29–May 3, 2025, at the Cheltenham Everyman.
As previously reported, Michael Maloney, seen on screen in Belfast, Iron Lady, Young Victoria, and Notes on a Scandal, will play Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot.
Maloney will be joined by the newly announced Bob Barrett as Monsieur Bouc, Mila Carter as Countess Elena Andreyni, Rebecca Charles as Greta Ohlsonn, Debbie Chazen as Princess Dragomiroff, Simon Cotton as Samuel Ratchett, Jean-Baptiste Fillon as Michel, Christine Kavanagh as Helen Hubbard, Paul Keating as Hector MacQueen, Iniki Mariano as Mary Debenham, Rishi Rian as The Colonel, and Alex Stedman as Head Waiter. Also in the cast are Jasmine Raymond and Beth Tuckey.
Maloney, whose numerous stage credits include Light Shining in Buckinghamshire, Peer Gynt, and Taking Steps, said in an earlier statement, “I am very excited and honored to be joining a long line of extraordinary actors who have taken on the role of Hercule Poirot and hope I can be so, too. To work with such a talented director as Lucy Bailey and with top producers Fiery Angel is a gift and a privilege. Here's to Orient Express hurtling through your town or city soon!”
The mystery is set in winter 1934 as an avalanche stops the Orient Express. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, his door locked from the inside. Trapped in the snow with a killer still on board, can Poirot crack the case before the train reaches its final destination?
The upcoming tour will be designed by Mike Britton with lighting design by Oliver Fenwick, video design by Ian Galloway, sound design by Mic Pool, movement direction by Leah Hausman, and casting by Abby Galvin.
