Go inside Jeff Augustin 's Where the Mountain Meets the Sea, playing Off-Broadway at New York City Center - Stage I. Previews for the Manhattan Theatre Club production began October 11, ahead of a November 2 opening. Get a first look at the production below.
Starring in the production are Chris Myers as Jonah and Billy Eugene Jones as Jean, a son and father who struggle to connect. The play follows Jonah as he makes the journey his father, a Haitian immigrant, made from Miami to California in reverse. The road trips, made years apart, give the two a connection that helps them finally find common ground.
Joshua Kahan Brody directs the New York premiere, which features live folk songs by The Bengsons (Hundred Days). Featured on the creative team are scenic designer Tony nominee Arnulfo Maldonado, costume designer Dominique Fawn Hill, lighting designer Stacey Derosier, sound designer Ben Truppin-Brown, and dramaturg Sarah Lunnie. Movement is by Steph Paul and Roxana Khan serves as production stage manager.
Where the Mountain Meets the Sea was presented at the 2020 Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
