The Public Theater has announced casting for the world premiere of Joan of Arc: Into the Fire, with music, book, and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe winner David Byrne, and direction by Golden Globe winner Alex Timbers. The debut production reunites the pair following their collaboration on Here Lies Love, which previously played an acclaimed engagement at the Public.
Joan of Arc: Into the Fire will star Jo Lampert in the title role. The show, which also features choreography by Steven Hoggett, will begin previews February 14 and has been extended two weeks through April 16. It will officially open March 15.
The cast will also include Terence Archie (Warwick); James Brown III (Priest, Judge); Jonathan Burke (Priest, Judge); Rodrick Covington (Priest, Judge); Sean Allan Krill (Bishop Cauchon); Mike McGowan (La Tremouille); Mary Kate Morrissey (Female Standby); Adam Perry (Priest, Judge); John Schiappa (Priest, Judge); Kyle Selig (Dauphin, King Charles); and Michael James Shaw (Baudricourt).
Joan of Arc: Into the Fire is billed by the Public as “a one-of-a-kind rock musical concert“ that chronicles the rise of the iconic historical figure.
The debut staging will feature scenic design by Chris Barreca, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Cody Spencer, projection design by Darrel Maloney, and music direction by Kris Kukul.
