Seth Rudetsky's Broadway, the concert series hosted and music-directed by actor, conductor, musician, Playbill columnist, and Sirius/XM Radio star Seth Rudetsky, presents an evening with Tony nominee Vanessa Williams June 20 at 8 PM at The Town Hall in New York City.
The series will continue with Tony winner Jane Krakowski September 12 at 8 PM. The format of each concert is a mix of behind-the-scenes stories prompted by Rudetsky’s revealing questions and the music from the artist's Broadway career.
"Yes, everyone knows Vanessa Williams started her pop career in the '80s and went on to do fabulous TV shows, but do people know she was a musical theatre major?" asks Rudetsky. "That’s right! Vanessa is a Broadway baby at heart, and this concert is going to be an amazing combination of her Broadway roots, her amazing pop hits, and the hilarious and sometimes shocking stories from her career. From singing on the Oscars and working with Sondheim, to being blocked from starring opposite the incredible Tommy Tune. As usual, my concerts aren’t pre-planned so who the H knows what will happen!"
A 2002 Tony nominee for her performance in the revival of Into the Woods, Williams is currently back on Broadway in the farce POTUS. The stage and screen star has also appeared on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman, Sondheim on Sondheim, After Midnight, and The Trip to Bountiful. The Grammy and Emmy nominee was also recently seen in the MasterVoices concert version of Anyone Can Whistle.
