Washington, D.C.-based modern dance company Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company visited New York City's Korean Cultural Center for a special performance marking the ensemble's 30th anniversary. See photos from the event below.
On hand to perform were dancers Joan Ayap, Christine Doyle, Justin Rustle, Felipe Oyarzun Molledo, Christin Arhtur, and Aleny Serna, dancing works and excerpts from Burgess' “Khaybet,” “Transformations,” “A Tribute to Marian Anderson,” “Surroundings:A Tribute to Maya Lin,” and “Mandala.”
Burgess has toured the world for three decades as cultural ambassador for the U.S. state department. His company performs all over D.C., at venues including The Kennedy Center, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the United Nations, The Kreeger Museum, and The White House. Burgess recently published a memoir titled Chino and the Dance of the Butterfly.
