Go inside the opening night red carpet for Broadway's latest new play, Pictures from Home by Sharr White (The Snow Geese, The Other Place). The strictly limited engagement opened February 9 at Broadway's Studio 54, following previews which began January 13. Read reviews here.
White's adaptation of Larry Sultan's photo memoir of the same name stars Tony winners Nathan Lane (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Producers) and Danny Burstein (Moulin Rouge!, Fiddler on the Roof) alongside Tony nominee Zoë Wanamaker (Awake and Sing!). Pictures from Home follows Larry, played by Burstein, and his parents Irving and Jean who he photographs as they make their journey from Brooklyn to the San Fernando Valley.
Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, To Kill a Mockingbird) helms the production, which features set design by Michael Yeargan, costume design by Jennifer Moeller, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, sound design by Scott Lehrer and Peter John Still, and projection design by Ben Pearcy at 59 Productions.
Pictures from Home also serves as a reunion: Sher and Burstein last worked together on the 2015 revival of Fiddler on the Roof, while Sher and Wanamaker collaborate for the first time since Awake and Sing!
The work was previously developed by New York Stage and Film in 2019 with director Danielle Tool, and received a developmental reading at Houston's Alley Theatre in 2020 directed by Rob Melrose.
