Nico Juber's Millennials Are Killing Musicals opens its developmental run May 15 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament's Theatre 71. With Grammy and Emmy winner Kristolyn Lloyd (1776, Dear Evan Hansen) leading the company, the new musical's limited engagement plays through May 28 after beginning previews May 9.

Lloyd plays Brenda, a single and struggling millennial mom who wants to be as good at "adulting" as other moms on social media and the seemingly perfect mom of her daughter's classmate. Just when she's ready to take on the challenge, Brenda's younger sister and social media influencer Katrina shows up on her doorstep eight months pregnant.

She is joined by Broadway alums Max Crumm (Grease) as Nate/Atlas, Jakeim Hart (Almost Famous) as Dylan, Tiffany Engen (Legally Blonde) as Jake’s Mom, and Syndi Beaudoin as Pacifica alongside Diana Huey (Honor) as Katrina, Sheri Sanders (Urinetown) as Nana Marie, and Jae W.B. (Luna & The Star Bodies) as Luna. Serving as understudies are Jessie Alagna (Emojiland) and Kathel Griffin (Here and Their).

Directing the run is Ciara Renée (Waitress, Frozen), who helms a creative team featuring music supervisor and arranger Ted Arthur (Diana), vocal arranger Devyn Rush, orchestrator Macy Schmidt (Kimberly Akimbo), music director Sheela Ramesh (SIX), lighting designer Jamie Roderick (Midnight at the Never Get), scenic designer Lindsay Fuori (Made By God), sound designer Bill Toles (Rat Trap), projection designer Taylor Edelle Stuart (The Outsiders), costume designer Brynne Oster-Bainnson (Hit the Wall), choreographer Sarah Parker (Camelot), gender consultant Shira Helena Gitlin, and EDI consultant Tiffany Vega-Gibson.

Millennials Are Killing Musicals has been in development since 2018, and was an O’Neill NMTC Semifinalist in 2021 and 2022. The work previously received a New York City industry reading, a songs showcase through New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series, and sold-out concert presentations. Juber is a Drama League-songwriting contest and NAMT Challenge winner.

Out of the Box Theatrics serves as producer with New York Theatre Barn as associate producer. Aaron Grant Theatrical is consulting general manager.
