A concert reading of the new musical Emojiland will be presented May 9 at 8 PM at Rockwell Table & Stage in Los Angeles.

Co-created by husband-and-wife-team Keith Harrison (book, music, lyrics) and Laura Harrison (book), Emojiland, according to press notes, “tells the story of an emoji civilization contained within a teenager's smartphone. When the phone falls behind a dresser, the inhabitants of Emojiland must figure out how to save themselves before the battery runs out and their universe shuts down, lost forever.”

Emojis are the small icons used to express an emotion (or idea) in electronic communication.

The cast includes Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Keith David (Jelly's Last Jam) as Father Christmas, Mary Faber (American Idiot) as Woman, Corbin Reid (Sister Act) as Princess, Cornelius Jones Jr. (The Lion King) as Face, Alex Ellis (On A Clear Day…) as Information Desk Person, Matt Magnusson (Breaking Through) as Skull, Bridgette Bentley (The Color Purple) as Older Woman, Leah Lewis (Sing It!) as Girl, J.D. Phillips (Sing It!) as Boy, Danny Jacobs (Transparent) as Cat Face, Catherine LeFrere (Orange is the New Black) as Dancer, Parvesh Cheena (Outsourced) as Imp, David Haverty (Rockwell’s Romeo & Juliet) as Ogre/Guardsman, Chris Yonan (The Idiot’s Guide to Dating) as Man, Alberto Isaac (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Older Man/Sleuth, Marco Ramos (Spamalot at The Hollywood Bowl) as Baby Angel/Monkey, Jaime Moyer (Second City) as Construction Worker, LeShay Tomlinson (R.
