Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre will premiere Nazareth Hassan's Bowl EP as a part of its 42nd Season in Spring 2025.
Written and directed by Hassan (who is a Vineyard Artist-in-Residence), the piece is a co-production with National Black Theatre, in association with The New Group.
Said Artistic Director Sarah Stern "In the spring, we will welcome Nazareth Hassan, one of the most dynamic young theatre artists in the country, with Bowl EP, their Off-Broadway debut. Bowl EP invites us into a skateboard park in the summertime to meet two skaters exploring and negotiating languages of intimacy and connection, freedom and rebellion, taking us to places we could not have predicted. Filled with humor and electricity, Bowl EP features live skateboarding and live rap music to create a truly unique theatrical event.”
The play is part of Vineyard's newly announce 2024-2025 season, which also includes the previously announced world premiere of Jordan Harrison (Marjorie Prime)'s The Antiquities. The project is a co-production between Vineyard, Playwrights Horizons, and Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The Off-Broadway run will play Playwrights Horizons in winter 2025 (dates to be announced) before moving to the Goodman.
