Ayla Xuan Chi Sullivan and Nick Hadikwa Mwaluko's new work Jubilee for a New Vision will play at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space on February 21 at 7 PM. The performance is presented by National Queer Theatre with partner The Dramatists Guild as part of Carnegie Hall's 2022 Afrofuturism Festival. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can for the approximately 70-minute show.

The evening will showcase excerpts from new work by Ayla Xuan Chi Sullivan and Nick Hadikwa Mwaluko, both inaugural New Visions Fellows, as well as New Visions Fellowships finalists Storm Thomas, Chatal Vorobei Thieves, and Alexander Paris. Performances will be by James A. Pierce III and Ianne Fields Stewart, with direction and hosting by playwright and New Visions Fellowship Lead Mentor Roger Q. Mason.

"Through their art, they envision Black Futures which transform systemic invisibility into fonts of joy, community, and infinite imagination," said Mason in a statement. "The Black trans and gender non-conforming playwrights making work  in America are at the forefront of Afrofuturism. They've had to make a way out of no way and still hold their heads high while striving."

The New Visions Fellowship is a year-long professional development program centered on celebrating and uplifting Black trans and gender non-conforming writers. The program is led by Mason and Program Manager Jordan Stovall.
