Music Theatre International has launched Dramatic Moments, a new offering that turns songs and scenes from musicals into curriculum for the classroom. Each package, which costs $35 to license, includes a short scene, sheet music for the accompanying song, a piano accompaniment track, and a 10–15 minute virtual master class with the work's authors. The initial slate includes excerpts from Shrek the Musical, A Man of No Importance, The Theory of Relativity, Something Rotten!, and more.
Dramatic Moments is the first product to come out of the theatrical licensor's MTI Classroom initiative, which seeks to elevate arts education by putting works from the MTI catalog into the classroom as curriculum.
“MTI Classroom represents the evolution of MTI’s investment in theatre education," shares MTI Chief Operating Officer and Director of Education and Development John Prignano in a statement. "Dramatic Moments ‘peels back the curtain’ on the creative process with exclusive ‘behind-the-scenes’ access to the show’s creators. We are launching 11 Dramatic Moments (with more on the way), and each scene/song can be used as part of an academic lesson, an acting workshop, a performance, or all of the above."
