Broadway News Morrissey Comes to Broadway Beginning May 2 The former frontman of The Smiths performs in residency at the Lunt-Fontanne.

Morrissey, the British singer-songwriter whose baritone voice has become part of the cultural fabric, begins performances on Broadway May 2 as part of the new In Residence on Broadway series.

The former frontman of The Smiths is playing the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre through May 11 in conjunction with the release of his latest album, a collection of '60s and '70s covers titled California Son, set to drop May 24 through Étienne Records/BMG.

The In Residence series is a collaboration between Live Nation, The Araca Group, and Entertainment Benefits Group. The series will continue with Yanni playing the Lunt-Fontanne May 28–June 2, Tony winner Mel Brooks June 17–18, Regina Spektor June 20–26, and illusionist Criss Angel set for July 2–7. Additional participants for gigs through July will be announced later.
