Matt Cox's Witches!? in Salem?! has set a premiere at HERE Arts Center, with performances to run March 16-30 at the NYC venue. The work, from the playwright behind Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, offers a "darkly comedic, (mostly) historically accurate" take on the Salem Witch Trials according to press notes.
The play premieres as part of HERE's Witches, Queers, and Clowns performance series, highlighting works focused on societal outcasts, and is presented by producers Jonathan Cottle and Matt Cox in association with Hudson Valley based non-profit BonfireWorks Foundation.
The cast will include Jessie Cannizarro, Nick Carrillo, AJ Ditty, Carolina Đỗ, Aaron Parker Fouhey, James Fouhey (Puffs), Jake Keefe, Andy Miller, Jessica Mosher, and Jordan Sison.
Witches!? in Salem?! will feature an original score by Brian Metolius and scenic, costume, and puppet design by K.C. McGeorge and Noah Ruff. Vanessa Rebeil will serve as stage manager.
