The world premiere of  ...what the end will be by playwright Mansa Ra officially opens Off-Broadway June 2. The Roundabout production, taking place in the Laura Pels Theater at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre, runs through July 10. Previews began May 12.

Starring in the play are Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship), Gerald Caesar (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical), Randy Harrison (Atomic A New Musical), Keith Randolph Smith (Jitney), Ryan Jamaal Swain (Pose), and Tiffany Villarin (Do You Feel Anger?). Margot Bordelon directs.

...what the end will be follows three generations of men who live together as they handle and come to terms with what it means to each of them to be Black and gay. By exploring the relationships and perspectives of fathers and sons, the play explores themes of pride, pain, and patience.

The creative team features 2022 Tony nominees costume designer Emilio Sosa (Trouble in Mind), lighting designer Jiyoun Chang (...for colored girls), and sound designer Palmer Hefferan (The Skin of Our Teeth), who are joined by set designer Reid Thompson.

Ra and Bordelon made their Roundabout debut in 2017 with Too Heavy for Your Pocket at Roundabout Underground, part of the company's New Play Initiative.  ...what the end will be was commissioned and has been in development since 2017.
