Jasmine A. Mitchell has been selected for this year's Black Theatre Coalition Directing Fellowship at New York Theatre Workshop.
Recipients of BTC's fellowship receive a fully salaried experience mounting a Broadway production. Each fellow immerses themselves in their area of the industry, working alongside current industry leaders to learn the process of theatre making on the executive, creative, and administrative areas.
Mitchell is a distinguished director, writer, producer, and arts administrator dedicated to social change. An anti-racist theatre practitioner, Mitchell is committed to creating work that fosters healing for women and other marginalized groups. Born in Dominica and raised in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area, Mitchell has worked with Woolly Mammoth, Mosaic, Rorschach, Young Playwrights Theatre, and the University of Maryland. She has previously been a Kennedy Center Kenan Fellow at the Hangar Theatre in New York.

Since the launch of the Fellowship in 2022, BTC, in sponsorship with American Express, has awarded the fellowship to support New-York based producer and director, TaNisha Fordham and Lanise Antoine Shelley, a Haitian actress, director, podcaster, and visual artist.
