Julie Benko, who played Ruth in the recent, new Broadway musical Harmony,  returns to Birdland February 12 at 7 PM to celebrate Mardi Gras.

Benko, who was acclaimed for playing Thursday evenings as the alternate Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, is joined at the famed jazz club by her band Euphonic Gumbo: jazz-pianist spouse Jason Yeager, Michael O’Brien on bass, Jay Sawyer on drums, Andy Warren on trumpet, Evan Harris on clarinet, and Rebecca Patterson on trombone.

Former Funny Girl castmate and tap dancer John Manzari is the evening's special guest.

Attendees can expect to hear songs performed in the classic New Orleans jazz style, including “Louisiana Fairy Tale,” “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?,” “Love for Sale,” “Basin St. Blues,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and more.

Benko has also appeared on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misérables
