The New Jersey venue stages Sondheim's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical through March 24.

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center production of Sunday in the Park with George begins performances March 8. The New Jersey venue will stage Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical through March 24.

Eamon Foley directs and choreographs the production, with Graham Phillips (13) starring as Georges Seurat and George, and Talia Suskauer (Wicked) as Dot and Marie, as well as Joy Hermalyn (Fiddler on the Roof) as the Old Lady and Blair, and Bernard Dotson (Paradise Square) as Jules and Bob Greenberg.

They are joined onstage by Kevin Arnold, Giuliana Augello, Anthony Cataldo, Katie Davis, Bernard Dotson, Bridget Gooley, James C. Harris, Isabel Lagana, Ella Mangano, Dylan Randazzo, and Allie Seibold. The AXCBT dancers include Giana Carroll, Alyssa Harris, Lindsay Jorgensen, Olivia Miranda, Sarah Takash and Gillian Worek.

The creative team features lighting designer Paul Miller, sound designer Ian Wehrle, projections designer Brad Peterson, scenic designer Ryan Howell, costume designer DW, puppet designer Eric Wright of Puppet Kitchen International, prop designer Susan Bloir, and production stage manager Jason Brouillard.

Sunday in the Park With George opened on Broadway, starring Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, in 1984, subsequently receiving Tony Awards for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design. The Pulitzer Prize for Drama followed in 1985.
