Gingold Theatrical Group’s 2019 Golden Shamrock Gala will pay tribute to composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Working, Godspell, Pippin) and GTG Board Member Mary Pamela Singleton. The annual event, set for March 16, will transport Manhattan’s 3 West Club into a 1930s deco nightclub.
The evening will feature a live dance orchestra led by Dan Levinson, a cocktail hour, an Irish dinner, a silent auction, and performances from Melissa Errico, Claybourne Elder, Alison Fraser, and more to be announced. Proceeds will help support GTG’s upcoming presentation of Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra, set to take the stage at Off-Broadway’s Theatre Row in the fall.
“From his earliest creations and throughout his career, [Schwartz] has brought us works that strive to empower the individual, to challenge societal dictums, and to encourage us to examine our own life and the world around us in a positive and contributive way in a way that would have greatly impressed G. Bernard Shaw,” said Artistic Director David Staller in a statement.
He added, “Pam Singleton has spent most of her life encouraging and supporting the artistic community in New York City, both with her expertise in financial advisement and her philanthropic contributions. She has become a beloved and indispensable part of all things GTG.”
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
