Off-Broadway's Blue Man Group will welcome its founding street performers back to the stage ahead of its February 2 closing date.
Begun by a trio of Lower East Side street performers—Chris Wink, Matt Goldman, and Phil Stanton—the pop-art theatre production made its Off-Broadway debut November 17, 1991. The show will have played over 17,000 performances at the Astor Place Theatre at the time of closing.
As part of the farewell celebration, Wink, Goldman, and Stanton will return to the stage as Blue Men for two special performances. They will perform at an additional show that has been added on January 9, and they will also perform during the January 24 performance.

Now owned and operated by Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, the production and its trio of bald, blue men explore society's cultural norms (and poke a little fun at the audience along the way) with their own particular blend of art, music, and technology.
Since its Off-Broadway opening, the show has expanded to include sit-down productions in Las Vegas, Boston, and Chicago, as well as North American and international tours in over 15 countries. An Orlando production is scheduled to reopen next spring after a four-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
