The new musical film Beau will make its world premiere December 1 as the opening-night feature of Dances With Films New York. The independent film festival will continue through December 4 at the Regal Union Square.

Prior to its premiere, Playbill has obtained an exclusive clip from the film. Watch Matt Rodin and Maximilian Sangerman perform "It Couldn't Be" in the video above.

Featuring music, lyrics, and a book by Douglas Lyons (Chicken & Biscuits) with music and orchestrations by Ethan D. Pakchar (Five Points), Beau is directed by Josh Rhodes (First Date) and features seven actor-musicians, who tell the story of Ace Baker, whose life is altered when he discovers the grandfather his mother kept hidden is still alive. 

The film casts Rodin as Ace with Jeb Brown (Beautiful) as Beau, Amelia Cormack (Hadestown) as Raven, Marlene Ginader (The Punisher) as Daphney, Sangerman (A Beautiful Noise) as Ferris, Emily Seibert as Le-Ann/Karina/Nurse, Jeremy Sevelovitz (We The People national tour) as Larry/Dennis, and Zach Mullings.

The film is produced by Tony winner Hunter Arnold (Hadestown). Executive producers are George Bamber, Kayla Greenspan, R.K. Greene, and Leah Michalos.

Sony Masterworks Broadway released the Beau concept album in 2019.
