Broadway pulled in a total of $26,762,454 this week, down slightly from last week’s $28,880,196. Overall houses were 81.91 percent full, with an average paid admission of $105.81.

Ben Platt played to full houses in his first week of performances with the new Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, which began previews November 14 at the Music Box Theatre.

Written by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen took in $804,291.20 for a seven-show week, with houses 98 percent full. Theatregoers paid on average $119.05 a ticket to see the pop-driven musical about an awkward high school outsider seeking connection at any cost.

Hamilton continued to dominate headlines and the box office. A visit from Vice President-Elect Mike Pence made headlines, with Trump-Pence supporters calling for a boycott of the musical after cast members addressed Pence in a curtain speech. The musical raked in $2,454,656.00, and released another block of tickets through November 2017.

A week after opening to raves, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 had a $149,813 dip at the box office, however industry press seats throughout the week and a fully-comped opening night resulted in the overall take of $888,329.40, which is still a respectable business.

The Tony-winning revival of The Color Purple (which ends its run January 8, 2017), stumbled at the box office, taking in only $396,146.53—its lowest week to date.

In Transit, with a full eight-show schedule under its belt, made modest ground, earning $238,221.85 at Circle in the Square.
