Black Theatre United's inaugural gala, entitled A Night to Remember, has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts. Originally set for October 3 at The Rooftop at Pier 17, the star-studded evening will be rescheduled in 2023 on a date to be announced.

The benefit was scheduled to feature performances by BTU Founders Vanessa Williams, Norm Lewis, Audra McDonald, LaChanze, Capathia Jenkins, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Darius de Haas, Natasha Yvette Williams, and Lillias White as well as guests Josh Groban, Joaquina Kalukango, Chuck Cooper, Lilli Cooper, and Eddie Cooper with appearances by Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel. 

James Monroe Iglehart was set to host the concert with direction by Jerry Dixon and musical direction by Michael Mitchell.

The evening, supported by Business for Good, was also scheduled to honor trailblazing leaders in Black theatre who are inspiring the next generation of Black theatre professionals. 

The nonprofit BTU was founded to build pathways of access and opportunities for Black and other students and industry professionals who have been historically marginalized in the theatre community. Proceeds from the gala will support BTU’s programs in Mentorships, Student Internships, BTU’s Annual Advocacy Summit, and BTU’s Education program.
