Benefits and Galas Alex Newell and Cynthia Erivo to Headline Urban Arts Partnership's 2018 Benefit Gala The two are among several favorites set to the stage at the April 16 event.

On April 16, Urban Arts Partnership's annual gala AmplifiED will take place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. Mike Yard and Emmy Award-winning actor Rory Albanese will co-host the event, dedicated to raising money to fight injustice in public education. Once On This Island’s Alex Newell and The Color Purple Tony winner Cynthia Erivo are set to perform as headliners .

Additional special guests will include Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple, Orange is the New Black), Geoffrey Arend (Madam Secretary), Amir Arison (The Blacklist), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Cecily Strong (SNL), Tracie Thoms (Falsettos, Rent), Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee, Waitress), Diane Neal (Law and Order: SVU), Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and Sadat X.

Honorees will include Michael Kenneth Williams, a UAP Artistic Board member, activist, and actor; Marissa Shorenstein, the President of AT&T Northeast Region; and the Off-Broadway producer and UAP Board member, Niclas Nagler.

UAP is a leading non-profit education organization that uses arts-integrated education programs and works to improve the lives of students of 100 low-income schools across New York and Los Angeles.
