Its mission is to ensure queer representation of all gender identities through an array of LGBTQ+ centric performances, ranging from new works to timeless classics that have defined queer culture and reimagined cis plays and musicals through an LGBTQ+ lens. In the face of a challenging political environment that seeks to silence such narratives, Theater Q believes it is more crucial than ever to celebrate and amplify the rich tapestry that is the LGBTQ+ experience. Theater Q is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization

SENSATION follows a group of drag artists on the evening of their most important gig yet. But before they can turn the party, an aspiring baby queen, Nick, shows up in need of help. Together, the queens polish up her act and teach Nick the many valuable lessons of drag through the power of banter, lip-sync, and community. But will Nick become the scene’s biggest flop or its newest sensation? SENSATION is a scripted play that tells a story of hard decisions, the importance of family, and the power of drag. This tour-de-force brings a whole new meaning to lip syncing for your legacy.

SEEKING Non-union Actors and Drag Performers for the company of a new play:

SENSATION.

Nick/Brandi Neux – (21-25, Drag Performer - BIPOC) The baby queen, Nick is new to the drag scene and brimming with naivete. He is eager and clueless, but passionate and committed to pursuing drag. Ideally able to do splits and dips. Must be able to do splits. Strong ability to lip-sync.

Diana Sensation – (35+, Drag Performer - Black or Latine) The old-school dancing diva. She’s intelligent, tough, and principled. Set in her ways (and probably a little jaded), she has led many queens to the light. Holds everyone around her to an almost impossibly high standard but does so to herself as well. Matriarchal, but not necessarily always maternal, she is not afraid to push her baby chicks out of the nest so they can learn to fly. Must be able to do splits, dips, and tricks. Strong ability to lip-sync.

Claire View – (30-35+, Drag Performer Any Ethnicity) The camp theater queen. Bright, bubbly, and endlessly optimistic. She’s a real team player and mediator, constantly working to keep the drag community connected and amicable. She is the one who encourages Nick to stop by and tries to repair the relationship between Disarray and Diana. Strong ability to lip-sync.

Disarray – (25-30, Drag Performer Any Ethnicity) The alternative performer. Aggressively unique (regardless of the consequences), Disarray seeks full-bodied representation and wants to push the boundaries of what Drag means. She is a ferocious social activist and educator – and an outrageous performer. She views drag as a high art, but thinks the community has a long way to go in embracing drag that isn’t the norm. She reminds us that we stand on the shoulders of giants. Strong ability to lip-sync.

Lady Olivia Monroe – (30-35, Drag Performer - Transgender - Black or Latine) The pageant queen. Content with chiming in only as necessary, Lady Olivia Monroe has seen it all. She has a gravitas that instantly demands attention. She is protective of queer spaces and clings to their sanctity. She believes in paying dues and earning respect. Strong ability to lip-sync.
